When effort is never appreciated
The quiet exhaustion of giving your all and being taken for granted
You show up.
You try hard.
You go out of your way.
You offer time, energy, and care.
And sometimes, it feels like no one notices.
The thank yous are rare.
The acknowledgment is minimal.
The effort you put in becomes invisible, almost expected.
And slowly, the weight begins to settle in.
It’s not that your effort is too much.
It’s that it’s being absorbed without recognition.
When people don’t notice what you do, you start questioning yourself:
Am I trying too hard? Does it even matter? Should I stop giving so much?
The most painful part is that this happens with people you care about.
You want to support them.
You want to contribute.
You want to make a difference.
But when your efforts are consistently unacknowledged, resentment quietly grows.
The truth is, appreciation isn’t guaranteed.
People may be distracted, self-absorbed, or unaware of what you’re giving.
And that doesn’t diminish the value of your effort it only signals where your energy should be spent.
Healthy effort is balanced.
It doesn’t mean giving less.
It means giving where your actions are recognized, respected, or genuinely needed.
Sometimes protecting your energy is the most important acknowledgment you can give yourself.
Have you ever felt exhausted because your effort was never appreciated?

Yes , I do felt many time I do too much for people and get nothing in return , this leaves me sad and frustrated , even i decided not to do this again but don't know that's because of my core nature ,I again repeating the same mistake....i so painful..
So true. I think this is a major reason people quietly quit jobs, relationships, etc. Being taken advantage of is no fun.
